Can cats be repaired?

  AB 182-GTI-6-205 GTI
Hi all,

I bought a cat of ebay as mine was de-cat'd before i bought it and it turns out its cracked all around the flange :(

Obviously, ive contacted the seller, and i hope we can come to an amicable agreement regarding a return/refund etc but in the meantime the MOT is looming so im wondering if it turns out matey doesn't want to play ball then could it be repaired?

Problem is thus:

Are they stainless or mild? Wondering if worse case i could MIG up the flange on the inside and dress the outside...

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
you will never weld repair that and get it to seal properly

it can be modded, but it's no good for standard fitment

Iirc cats can't be welded..
.. apparently its cruel and burns the fur.

But on a serious note, should be able to weld a new flange onto it. Then exhaust bandage/paste to make sure its fully sealed?
