Can I permanently assign an ext hard drive to a letter?

  Mk2 Golf GTI
s**t explanation, lol, but basically i'd like to permanently assign my external hard drive so that it's always F:\ drive.

I've got all my music on the external drive but sometimes, if i son;t have it turned on as the computer boots up it changes from F:\ to G:\ and this tootally screws up my iTunes library, meaning i have to import everything all over again.

This is seriously annoying so can i stop it from happening?

Cheers

Can't you map it as a network drive, so when its connected it always has a letter

Maybe not, but just a thought!

Cheers. Had a look throuhgt the options and couldn't specifically find one that does what i want to do but i did 'populate' it, if this makes any difference?

Failing this, i think i need to change my root itunes folder to the external drive as it currently looks in the c drive.

any more detail on this?

am trying to do the exact same thing to keep my windows media lirary correct..

Yea if you right click on my computer and go to manage

The do a disk management

In there should be your different hard drives and cd/dvd drivers, if you right click on your external hard drive and click on change drive letter and paths it will let you change the drive letter in there
