Can Megs Wheel Brightener be used on kerbed alloy wheels ?

I was looking at Megs Wheel Brightener on the Polished Bliss Website.

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/meguiars-wheel-brightener-wheels.html

They say you can't use it on Kerbed Alloy Wheels.

How come ?

Will it peel the paint/lacquer ?

Here is a picture of my worst kerbed wheels :(

I think you would - they'll just be playing it safe because those bits aren't lacquered anymore. Although we used it undiluted the other day (albeit briefly) on my mates Astra wheels that are 20 times worse than yours there, and it didn't hurt them, and we wash them with it every week anyway as well. No ill effects so far (been using it a month or so once a week now - diluted - with the undiluted use when he took them off for a proper clean - suspect the first in 8 years).

The worry is on really flakey alloys where it will get under and lift it off and make it even worse.

I use it on my mum's alloys which are curbed much worse than that and have a soft finish to them but don't seem to have done any damage at all, but I only use it probably every 2-3 months probably. Just rinse off well and don't leave to dwell for too long.

When I worked at a garage a while ago we used to spray on stronger acid to car's straight back from road tests, fumes were actually coming off them, and sometimes I would be waiting for ages to use the pressure washer as we only had one...now that DID f**k alloys!

seems pretty pointless there not exactly dirty. Whats wrong with car shampoo or if that doesnt cut it fairy and then if that doesnt cut it id look at something acidic.

Agreed- looking at the pics, soap and water would be fine, maybe AG Engine and Machine Cleaner on any stubborn bits, don't look bad enough to warrant anything harsh or acidic.

Trust me it won't brighten anything ! It is just a silly product name ...

SRP then to make them look better

Ah right ok.

Cheers bud.

I'll just stick with my SRP,EGP and Poorboys Wheels Sealant routine i'm doing at the moment ;)

How often do you do the Wheel Sealant routine Rich (if you use wheel sealant) ?

I top it up every 6 or 7 washes ;)

Is just the insides of mine that i wouldn't mind getting cleaner, as i don't want to spend money on a refurb.

As i may be getting Turini's ;)

I do the Poorboys Wheel Sealant most times I clean the car as it is so easy to use.

I SRP and EGP them a couple of times a year.
