Can you have too much air??

  Clio 1.6 RXE
I know the basic idea is to get as much cool, clean air through the intake and into the engine as poss, but is it possible to have too much air being sucked in (causing air/fuel ratio probs) ??

the reason i ask is becuase i have room in the behive for a custom induction kit that i was thinking of but for looks it would involve 2 induction cones.

i will be making my own re-location kit for my current 57i kit as it sits right at the back of the bay on my motor, so will be bringing it forward with some trusty Samco. Was just wondering whether i should go ahead with my custom job whilst doing this?

two cones would not really bennert fit, unless it was very trick set up, even then with two open cones more of a chance for heat soak

to be honest i'm not expecting a great benefit, but thought whilst i'm moving one cone i might add another (for effect more than anything)
they would be sat right behind the grill so hopefully getting a lot more cool air than current position, just about poking through the back of the bay.

it would look and sound good, but thats only if the two cones were on sep feed, and not in line

there are probably greater restrictions in the intake system ie manifold. Its probably worth getting AFR checked if you are changing things but if you are just changing the air filter I imagine you will be OK.

A custom twin air filter setup would look good IMO. Go for two smaller ones if you are worried about AFR.

thats what i would be going for tbh.
the setup would be on like a Y-Piece...

i need the AFR checked anyways as i think it's all to pot since i had a PBV fitted.
thanks guys!

they won't be matey :) only putting in a 90 deg elbow so i can point the filter (maybe filters) outta the way of the engine and into the cooler air.
