cannot hear other caller through my iphone

I cannot hear the person on the other end of a phone call through my iphone 4. I can hear them if I put it on loud speaker or through the Bluetooth hands free kit in my car but not directly out of the phones earpiece.

I know it's a common bug with the iphone but what have any of you done when it happened, took the phone back????

I took mine back to the apple store and got a replacement.
