Canon 70-200 F4 L USM

Car  Clio 197
Hello.

Does anyone on here have this lens? How sharp is it?

I want something similar in sharpness to the EF S 60 F/2.8 USM Macro lens.

Will it be good enough?

Ta,

Oms.
xx

fecking good lens mate, soooooooo good, wish it was a little longer sometimes but the optics are amazing!

3 or 4 of us have it on here

I bought mine yesterday, now I just need some bastarding sports to shoot! been doing macro with it in the garden lol

Not a very good demonstration of its capability I'm afraid :D

What does the 'F4' mean?

I've seen the EF 28-200mm f3.5-5.6 USM which is cheaper and has a bigger 'scope' to it but I'm thinking there must be a reason for this.

Most of the pics on these pages mate.

very difficult to show the true quality though as i have to compress them for the web, its an excellent lens though and good for the first trial at more pro pics, i nearly bought the consumer IS lens but went with this and don't regret it.

its the luxury line, the off white coloured ones the pro's use, so very high quality optics, not made of glass but some other stuff

The "L" in the title refers to the "luxury" lens that Canon offer, which is very high in Optical & Build Quality.

28-200 is the zoom (as you know).

F3.5-5.6 refers to the maximum aperature the lens is capable of offereing (ie, the lens can be F3.5 at 28mm and F5.6 at 200mm).

So, at F3.5 the lens lets more light in than at F5.6.

I've got the F2.8 which is indentical to the F4 with the exception I have a slightly higher apperture value (2.8) throughout the entire focal legnth (unless you use an adapter of course). Handy for doing photo's when the weather is a little rough.
