Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens USM

I have just been browsing good ole E-bay and found the above lense.

RRP £200+

Offer at the moment at £99.88

Whats everyones thoughts. I have read a couple of reviews and they have all said that the image is sharp but has slight distortion a full zoom.

I've heard much better things about the Sigma 70-300 DG APO for a few quid more..

If you know where to look the 70-200 F4L (Non-IS) can be had for 280new after rebates if your willing to spend more...

I have had a play with the Sigma and just couldnt get used to the weight and layout of the lens. Must be me being a bit simple.

I think I will go for this one as I have played with the lens at Jessops a few weeks back but couldnt justify spending over £200 at the moment, but with this price I may just go for it.

not a great lense and buying on ebay is risky you will find it hard to get anywhere if its a bad copy

We actully spoke directly to the guy, he has a shop in Leeds, and the ebay is just a add on to what he already sells. Paid for it over the phone and get a full 2 yr gaurentee 1 from him and 1 from Cannon.

One of my other halfs work collegues got the same lense from him the other week and I had a play with it the other day.

Like you have said its not a great lense, but TBH i am no pro, its just a hobby for me and if I can make a saving and still get shots that I am happy with thats all that matters to me. Anyway once I have a better paid job I can always upgrade the cam and the glass for better stuff.
