cant get folders to share between laptops, is there another way?

Got an old laptop that I've installed Tiny XP Vista Edition on to.

I select share on the folder I want visable over the wireless network as usual, and nomarlly a few secs later the folder will pop up on my laptop but it won't..

anyone know why this may be or is there some 3rd party software I could use to just share?
