Cant get the radio back in!

  Clio 1.6 GT 2009
Hi folks,

First problem we are having is seemingly simple but we have come unstuck.

We removed the factory fit radio to check the connectors on the back to make sure we were ordering the correct adaptor cables, but we can't get the radio back in the dash properly. It feels like there is too much cable behind the head unit, but we barely have enough to get it out of the slot in the first place.

Are we missing something obvious? Is this a common problem? Is there an easy way to get access to the back of the radio slot to pull the cable through as we try and insert the head unit?

Im also worried that there won't be space for any adaptor harness behind the replacement head unit.

The car is a 2009 Clio GT.

Thanks

MW

Common issue mate. Well, every time I’ve changed a head unit or had one in and out I’ve had to fiddle with all the wiring. It will go back in, it’s just an in/out/tuck/repeat job.

thres plenty space, just the cable gets stuck, keep wiggling the cable and trying to get the unit in and out until it slides in with little to no resistance and clips in place, if your having to put force on it to get it in, start again

Thanks for the advice. No manner of poking or wiggling seemed to work, so we decided to pull the glove box and see of that gave access to the back of the unit. Good news is it's not difficult to do once you realise that the screws are hidden behind the silver trim.

That done and a quick tug on the stuck wires and the radio dropped in nicely. We spent longer wiggling and failing than it took to drop the glove box and refit!

Anyway it's all back together till the new head unit and adaptors turn up.

Most headunits will come with the harness adapter. If you want to retain steering wheel controls though you’ll need to invest in a Connects2 cable mate. 👍🏻

We found a recommendation (might have been on this forum) for Dynamic sounds and they do a kit for the Clio Here which is what we were checking the connectors for.
