cant install iTunes

just got a new i phone 3gs after losing old 1.when i went tto sync with itunes says its not compatible with this version i need itunes 10.have tried loads of times toinstall it and it always fails saying could notfind network %appdata%. there are a few things about this on web but ive tried everythng and nothing works. can any1 help?

Try uninstalling the old version first and then install the new one with a fresh start rather than upgrading it?

I did this yesterday

Click "Set up as a new phone"
The update the software on new phone
Then click restore and it should take you back to the start again with the option to restore from backup.
Select your backup and boom

i have deleted the old i tunes tried new install.didnt work i have tried everything, all the fixes on the internet, is there anything else i can do?
