Cant sell my car...

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
not for love nor money, I dont get it, its an awesome willy, all it needs is a clutch and it just wont shift, ebay auction just finished with only 1 bid, of only £2000, its worth near on £4k with the clutch done.

Someone buy the damn thing!! lol.

Anyone fancy a swap? lol.

Heres the thread from when I brought it, all that needs doing is the clutch, but its perfectly driveable, and I'm prepared to take 3k, is that unreasonable?

Lewis get the clutch sorted, first.

Sorry but it just screams neglect & what else may need doing????

Thats what a buyer will be thinking.

sort the clucth out then mate, your not loosing out if you do, because you'll be gettin top whack for it, where as selling it with a dicky clutch aint going to inspire confidence in the buyer.thats what i'd do anyway

Do the clutch mate - no one wants to buy a car that's bust before they start hehe :) I'm not saying it is, but that's what people will be thinking no doubt.

Maybe you're overpricing it?

yes...I tend to agree.

It is a stunnin example...Milage is a little high, but the history makes up for it...Clutch job is approx 300£ So that will turn a few people away.

I'd be surprised if you got more than 3.6k.

I got 2400£ for my willy 2 on 102k and it wasn't in as good nick, but it had brand new arches, clutch, gbox, brakes, suspension, oil & bushes.

Agree with the comments about the clutch....I think you may have to bit e on the bullet and get it done to shift it

This really is the most mint Williams I have seen, the history with it is very extensive.

No clutch will put people off as they may be scared about the costs of this and if there is any other related issues, box, etc.

sound advice everyone, ill have to save my pennies and get it sorted i think, should shift far easier that way.

jonathon, indeed, my williams does also provide immortality, thats included in the price. You'll also be far more attractive to the opposite sex, more successful in your career, and the gods will favour you in all endeavors.

not bad for 3 grand really.

crap time of year to be selling still unfortunately Lewis, hang with it til the market picks up and then go for it... all the time you're not using though the mileage isn't creeping up which puts some people off - 100k is a magical barrier

Lovely example, I suppose your trying to sell to a small customer base as no one will spend the asking price and use it as a daily runner, so it drops into the 'specialist' area, someone that loves mk1 clio williams and will want to continue keeping it in that condition.... the clucth is a big question mark, if your buying something to cherish you want it in working order... unless you drop it into the concours project area but then price is too high.

I would bide my time, get the clucth fixed and relist as 100%

  Williams 3
I've just bought a willy 3 this weekend just gone. Its in very good condition, it has a tiny bit of rust on the drivers door / sill and not really much else. 96k £1700. Everything is original. At the end of the day these are 12 - 15 yr old cars, so its not going to be easy to get what your looking for, which i know is a shame.... please don't think i'm trying to be harsh, just giving a buyer's perspective - not a good time to sell, but if you do want to fairly quickly, the price will need to be very attractive. How long are you willing to hold out for to get the right price? Is it better to leave it as it is, without the clutch being done and get what you can - i.e. £2500 cash in your pocket or spend more and still risk having to drop the price / not selling for may be another 6 months? how long is it worth waiting for to get an extra couple of quid....?

No idea of its value, but there are very few cars selling at the moment. There are some proper bargains around to loads of people struggling to sell Celicas as well (no comments please!). Probably combination of poor after christmas, and people worried about economy and loan and credit card problems.

I agree with everyone else here, get the clutch done. Some fitters will come and do the work at your house unless you can limp to a garage.

I would imagine the thing putting many people off is that they can't drive the car properly to find out what it is like let alone get it home without a trailer, for £2500 - £3000 return it's worth the temporary outlay imo, you can also say 'new clutch' in the advert, which is always a bonus to see when buying an older car.

I thought it was more than £300 for a clutch too tbh, maybe I'm going to expensive garages but it is an engine or sub frame out job.

Like Daniel said without the repairs no one will touch it, I wouldnt pay that amount of cash for a car that needs a new clutch. Always the risk to the buyer that other problems could occur or the new clutch does not fix it.

Why not ask someone on Williams clio to do it for you, Im sure they would take way less than £300 to help someone out.

  Golf R soon...
I can't seem to shift my clio either at the moment, will be part-ex'd at the end of the month if a sale doesn't come through

cant see the willy being much different for you tbh, £400-£500 id imagine, its group 17, do a few online qoutes and see what you come up with.

as long as u dont mind sorting the clutch on the willy then its an ace car, jimbo666 is in the process of getting me a price on the clutch, and i think hes gonna come up with a swanky deal so it might not be too bad.

I'm just so bloody skint after xmas and all i cant afford to have it done myself, got enough to pay for, lol.
