Car Auctions, No longer just for cheap bangers?

The finance company finally sent me a letter about the 197 going through the auctions. I was expecting them to get maybe £10k for it max (2008 RB only option were speedlines, recaros and xenons) especially after looking on autotrader and pistonheads at what they were going for. I've had the letter through and braced myself to find that it went through at £11,225! This was 'great' news because even though it means some lucky c*nt () has got my 197 now for a pretty good price it also means that a LOT of the money I owed on it has gone, I'm also sorted out financially now

So if your struggling to sell you car, put a 95% value reserve and get it in a BCA car auction!

If any bought a Racing Blue 197 from Belle Vue car auction, reg MF08 OVJ then enjoy it and look after it please :dapprove:

Lots of private buyers at auctions these days willing to pay nearly retail money believing they have a bargain. (sometimes the case, sometimes not!)

Happy days if your selling - not so good if your a trader looking to buy

I was really worried about it going through auction because last time I went looking to buy at a car auction everything went through for a lot less than I expected. I spoke to the finance company and agreed they'd put a reserve on it and it going through so well is a huge relief. It might be a bad time for traders but I really cant complain at that

Used cars are fetching stupid money at the minute.

Higher end stuff is fetching £2k into the book!!!

I have more phone calls from main dealers trying to get me to find stock than I get from normal retail customers! lol.

You just can't get enough cars atm. It will quieten down in a minute though. Peaks and troughs and all that.

Cheers, really didnt know that, thought it was a slow moving thing, which just sort of followed the economy, i.e i thought it was going to pick back up slowly. When theres a "trough" let me know and i'll buy my 172

Will keep it in mind when its time to go looking for a car. I'll never buy through auctions again though lol, the cars either aren't any cheaper than from dealers/private sellers and the ones that are are normally cheaper for a reason (I've known atleast 3-4 different cars in a 2 month period sold at auction with sawdust mixed in with the oil)
