Car does not sound good!!!!

  Clio 182 cup
Had this squeaking noise for a couple of months now that would come and go every couple of days. Happens mainly from cold and would not return until next morning. But lately it squeaks a bit from cold and is worse when turning out of my drive, then continues down the road but when the car has done 10-15 miles it now makes a dry metallic noise combined with the squeaking noise whilst driving. Doesn't matter if accelerating and or when letting off the throttle. I have noticed that if put in neutral when driving, the noise would stop and then start again when in gear. I've also noticed it screeches and whines when parking and put the car on full lock. Any suggestions such as PAS pump, AUX belt or bearing etc. doesn't sound like heatshield tbh.
Bit scared of driving it at the min in case a belt or something lets go.
P.S. cam belt kit and aux belt kit done about 1 1/2 years ago and she is a 182 cup.

So it made a squeal doing a hill start, then the other noise after 10 miles or so. The sound is like loose change in ur pocket with a squeal if that makes sense lol. Full lock from cold there was a slight squeal, then got home to park on the drive and it was whinning on full lock.
Might just take it to a specialist but don't wanna b a twa* if it's something simple or for it not to make the noise.

Sounds like the power steering pump is on it's way out but I'd take it to a specialist anyway. Since the PAS is driven from the AUX belt I'd get it seen to sooner rather than later.

Also check your power steering fluid.

Check there's no moisture on the aux belt, water pump can leak and cause squeeking from standstill

Bring it over for a look if you like, MK isn't far at all. I'd guess at seized tensioner though

I'm hoping that the full aux belt kit was fitted as I did ask for the full cam belt and aux belt kits to be fitted at the same time by a specialist who used to use this forum. But I have doubts as I did ask for the water pump to be changed at the same time but he said he couldn't do it as he couldn't get the water pump out to replace it. Seemed he was quite busy and rushed it in my opinion.
Might have to pop down and see you Danny.

I'm also not that far from MK either and can be found just off J25 of the M1

Cool, thanks. It needs to be looked at pretty soonish as it's getting worse. Seems to make the noise if my car has had a spirited part of a journey.

I'd be trying to not drive it until it's fixed, let alone driving it in a spirited manner!!!

The noise is heard in a range of RPM's and gears when going along, sometimes does it when out of gear but rarely. When I got to work this morning I parked up, put car in neutral and gently revved the engine to about 2.5K and you could hear the loud metalic sound. Turning the steering wheel while parking, it was squealing and whinning. Idle is fine no noise apart from the charcoal canister ticking away and sometimes a little squeak.

The heatshield above the mid section which the mid exhaust mount holds up is loose as the bolt hole for the mount needs reboring/rethreading as the bolt will not tighten. But it's def not that noise as the metalic noise/squeel/whinning sounds are more front end and when the heatshield does rattle, it sounds like it's from under the handbrake.

sounds like the water pump bearings have failed, make sure you have water in the system. PM replied to

Just an update. Car is now sorted thanks to the main man Danny at 519 Automotive who did an awsome job, lovely bloke.
Turns out that the bolt on the aux belt tensioner had sheered off and the aux belt was actually holding the bolt in place, also the aux belt had a couple of strips missing from it!!!!!! Also found out that a local garage had a wrong front spring when it was mot'd a week or so ago, as well as being charged a bomb!!!!!!! He also sorted my mid exhaust mount bolt hole which had been stripped!!!!
Anyway all sorted, thanks to Danny who did a brilliant job, certainly knows his stuff and such a sound guy. I'll definately go back for more work. Might get the cup lowered now :)

Was an interesting find to say the least!!

Luckiest escape I've ever seen from an aux belt thats stripped a rib off each side and not tangled the bottom pulley up
