Car doesnt like rain!

Hi all.

Got abit of a strange problem.

Whenever there is a heavy downpoor, my car starts running like s**t. it feels super sluggish, struggles to reach over 3krevs, and if left to idle (I.e at traffic lights, in traffic etc) the revs drop super low and it wont then rev over 500rpm! I have to switch the engine off & back on agaim to pull away....

Any ideas? im guessing water is ingressing somewhere and messing with the electrics, anywhere this could happen?

Have you removed the ECU plug shield (at the back of the rocker cover ), this is me guessing you have the ph2 1.2 engine even though you're ph3.

If so individually wrap the wires in electrical tape as the rain could be conducting electricity through them wires.

If not, erm no management light or emissions light?

Sorry should of mentioned. its an 05 mk2 ph3 1.2 16v

No lights on the dash at all! I'll check the ECU housing later, cheers

I also have a ph3 but have the ph2 engine which has this problem where the ECU plug cover chafes into the wiring causing crappy running.
