Car not wanting to start!

Hi guys

Basically my clio doesn't want to start, you can hear it ticking over but it doesn't start until maybe the fourth attempt. Really quite annoying, I took it out the other day once I got it started and the rev gauge stopped working and my automatic lights didn't come on.

Any ideas?

what do u mean by ticking over but because u getting few funny faults try this an its FREEEEEE lol
there r 3 black relays in a line in the box in front an to the right of the battery on yours, when it wont start on u agen swap these around an try it. had this a few times on them.

I'll give that a try, thanks. Yeah what I said didn't make much sense lol, what i meant was you can here the starter motor cranking but it won't start

does it run alright once it's going. does it do it when hot? cold?

Yeah it runs fine when it starts, temperature doesn't seem to make a difference.

hmmmm.... does the 1.2 have an idle air control (iac) valve? had one of these on my vectra. started much better once i'd taken it off and given it a good clean and replaced the 59p paper gasket. that's nearly free if it has one of those.

likely culprit though is the tdc sensor. £15ish from eurocarparts. easy enough to change.

or could take it off and try cleaning it, if it makes a difference you'll know it's defo the part to replace.
