Car overheating, no hot air in cabin

hi, my car is overheating and no hot air in cabin.

when i got to the shops earlier the engine fan was on which i thought strange. checked the coolant tank and it was empty! 2 litres went straight in. on way home engine getting hot but kept cool cause of the ambient temperature.

what's up?

almost certainly a leak. Possibly a crack in the rad or similar.

my mate kept topping his car up with water only to try and start it one cold day and snap his cambelt and bend 3 valves

yeah it's leaking, just put 6.5 litres in there and finally found water peeing out all over my lovely new gearbox. typical clio to have one big hose. might have to treat myself to some of these:

or should i get second hand hose for £20 off fleabay? is it a false economy buying a second hand radiator hose??

£20 if it's in good contition is a bit of a bargain. no real way to know when it may split/crack again though

Look in the for sale section. Theres a full set of Kwakker green silicon hoses going very cheap. (Russ Rallye iirc)

went to fit 2nd hand hose today only to find that whoever removed it had cut through it at the heater matrix end, making the lower heater matrix pipe too short. muppets.

anyone know what the big hose from renault costs? looking more and more like those forge hoses

pipe from renault is £83, i picked up a 7 month old pipe from james@jms for £40. all working now
