Car types, explain please??

  2007 MK3 Clio
I know this may seem really really stupid to some people but I have no clue what people are talking about when they say "I done a while bit of scene parking" "aye lad i'm going down the stealth route" it's like speaking another language to me :S!

I know euro is smooth, low and wide & that ricer is spending money on pointless mods to make your car look faster but not to go faster!

So could someone please explain what:
a scene car is
a stealth car is
and any others?

Thanks, R.J.M

Scene is just a random scene, euro scene, rat scene etc

Stealth is all black, or "murdered"

I would have said ricer was japanese with wings and silly bumpers, bit ott. Ricer is a yank saying.

I thought stealth was modified but to the untrained eye looks as it did when leaving the factory.

No idea what 'scene' is....

Stealth isn't Black, stealth can mean a lot of things similar to sleeper, stealth can be standard body but pushing big power.

Scene is a generic term for a car where the owner has no imagination and simply follows a set car modication path, ie with VAG, low, big wheels, with clio's 2118's silvervisions, etc.

The owner will normally wear skate shoes and possibly read/work for FastCar.

Stealth = big power, standard looks.

Cheers lad's!
So scene is basically just copying an other person's car and stealth is modifying the engine!

Tunst: Rat scene :S?

What would my car be classified as, it's:
Colour coded, RS grilles, SX kit, Decked on AP coilies
16" deep dish alloys, blacked out, debadged writing
Tinted side indicators & wind deflectors

PLEASE don't say chav just cause of the tints!

I thought standard looking but big power was a sleeper?

Thought stealth was more of an all black look myself.

Yeah to me stealth is everything black. Standard looks big lump is sleeper.

As for "scene", its not always about cars. Its the culture which surrounds a car make. The CS scene seems to be very much about track days and more racing based. Where as the Vw scene is more based around being Euro and "its cool to be a dickhead" culture. If you ask me if you wanna be scene you are a dick as you are trying too hard.

As for ricer from the urban dictionary

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

isnt this the rusted or matt black look? ie rat rods/vw bugs and busses?

Rat splits up into two groups really.

Rat look : Old cars, that look like they have had a hard life.

Forced Rat : People trying to make modern cars look old and rusty.

How about everyone modifies their car to make it look how they want it to look and not care about what others think about it and what style group it comes under, after all. It is your car.

I do my car how I like it and I don't care what other's think but it's nice to get feedback if people like it (FTTM wanna do a feature on my car )
I was just wondering what they all mean and I come under the best style group about.....CS all the way :D!
And I like your views on things :)!

whether you're trying to fit into a "scene" or not, people will pigeon-hole your car into some sort of scene regardless, whether you like it, or pay any attention, or not.

Of course, people can do whatever they like with their own property (within reason and law), but that doesn't neccesarily mean that just because something CAN be done, that it SHOULD be done.

:)

look for 'replicas' on here, they're Ricers.

;)

Good luck with the feature dude :) Post up pics if you get it !

Cheers mate!
I've got it and all, they're really interested in the car, I just told them to wait to june because I plan to have the car finished (outside) by the 11th june ( for BCF) :D probably wont go to plan but we'll see what happens (yn)!
And they said that's a good idea cause there's no point of them doing a feature and then 2 months later the car's looking even better!
So use will be seeing a post from me around the 11th june !
