Car won't start help

Hi I'm a newbie and have not long owned my clio sport 197 when I got in it this morning put my foot on the brake and pressed the start button the lights on the dash came on but didn't try to start, there are lights on dash as normal but will not even attempt to start PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!:S

I've heard starter failures aren't unheard of, do you get any sort of clicking from the starter?

Have you tried bumping it? I only had my 197 for 10 months so never really encounter an issues.

Haven't tried bumping it yet waiting for the rds to clear and there is just one click

Check all fuses in the upc next to the battery and in front of the battery

Tried all the fuses all ok . Bumped it today and got it going so I think next step is starter motor ?

Certainly looks starter related mate, bumping is a quick way of telling without getting dirty.

Seen quite a few 197 fail recently mate.

Sounds like the starter motor, possible problem with the solenoid. Try giving it a tap with a spanner or something, lightly mind, and try disconnecting the wire connected to the starter motor and check the connection is clean.

Doubt it will be corroded at that age, if you are going to tap it with something don't use a spanner.

If you short the terminals you will know about it! Use a hammer handle but I'd be suprised if you can get at it easily.

No power to solenoid I have been told to change the relay but can get power to it does anybody know where the white cable goes ?
