Carb help

Right i'm getting a 1.8 16v as a run around. Since it won't be doing much i'm going to use it as a test bed. I'd like to fit the R1 bike carbs i have kicking around.
I can have a manifold knocked up pretty easily by an local engineering company who has made a few for XE engines.

I remember Ben telling me i could keep the ECU but i'd have to apply a set resistance value to a few of the sensors to keep a good spark curve. Can you go through what i'd need to do?

Will i need to change the fuel pump or can i just use the current one with a pressure reglator in the line before the carbs.

Thanks

No R1 carbs. I'm dumping the EFI system but i'm keeping the ECU for the spark curve. Also if i do things this way i can't put it back to the OE EFI set up reasonably easily.

You can keep the stock ECU by running a vacuum manifold to feel the brake servo and map sensor. Run the AIT sensor and the TPS sensor and you'll be pretty much ok.

Run a regulator to drop the fuel pressure.

AIT?

Would the map sensor run ok off 1 inlet on the manifold?

Hmmm i could tap into each inlet and join them with a chamber then place the MAF on that. It won't be perfect but a friend has a similar set up running his maf.

MAF isnt MAP though.

I reckon your MAP signal will be all over the place due to massivley reduced intake volume.

I would just spend £200 on a proper ign only ecu.

The map signal will deffo be weak, but primarily because of bleeding between runners.

You'll have to live with it, it works ok as they arent as sensitive as newer clios.
