carbon canister

The carbon canister on my car can it be binned or not... can someone explain its purpose ...

iirc it vents fumes from the petrol tank into the inlet manifold to stop them escaping and poluting the atmosphere!

it can be binned but may bring up an engine fault. you'll also have to plug up a log of the vacuum lines that go too and from it!

How much vapour does it handle? Need to be careful where you direct the spray. Hosing it on hot brakes would seem dangerous?
