Carpet matts

Hey people, ive got some genuine matts for my 182. On the under side of the matts are some spikes at a right angle, do i push these into the carpet so that they are fixed to the floor, or do i just rest them ontop the carpet so that they jack knife when the matts move forward?

I'd stick the drivers one into the carpet mate. There's nothing more annoying than the drivers mat slipping up under the pedals....

As for the rest, just rest them in.
