Why am I not getting any interest in it?
Its on autotrader, pistonheads, adtrader, freeads and my local paper, I know the price is a little high but its a mint example and im one of the few that has bothered to get the cambelt changed as per the service schedule.
I need it gone really as I don't have a car I can drive at the minute and the insurance has run out on this one which i dont want to renew if im selling...

you tried placing an advert on pistonheads mate? i sold my car on there (very similar to your car) for £3000 within 5 days about 4 weeks ago. only difference with my car was i had some decent ice, a few mods and aircon.

i think alex is right, if i was browsing for a car and it seemed slightly overpriced, but absolutely mint I would definately view it, use any bits and bobs to knock the price down a bit and probably get it for the right price.

no matter how low the price is people will always bargain it down, so may aswell start high so you end up somewhere near what you want!

My thoughts exactly Joe, I don't want to get below book price for it and you've seen it in the metal and its mint for the year and miles, I was expecting some negotion anyway, unless i put it up at book price with no offers...

thing is though you will always get offers, say a car is up for £3k, which is the price it should sell for, someone will bargain about £200 off it and be very happy.

advertise it at £3.5k, someone will knock £200 off and think they have done well.
I've seen it alot as i've taken most of my mates car shopping because I know the most about them!

stick at the price mate, it will sell just needs a bit of time.

I was always told that as a seller ask for 10% more than you are willing to accept then when the bargaining has happened both parties should be happy.

Have you asked other people how much interest they are getting in their cars for sale? Perhaps people just arent buying at the moment?

I think people just aren't buying at the moment, a friend just sold his Clio through the same publications but it was underpriced.

(I always tend to put a fair bit in, but leave a few small bits out - so that whoever calls up will ask me)

Every car i've had the first person to see it has bought it (they will when I come to sell this one too - but thats not for ages) They make an offer close to the asking price, then I go from there.

Be very, very careful with this then. If the worst did happen and some scally nicked your car, you would be left empty handed.

I've personally heard of someone selling their car (and not renew the insurance) and then he got jumped on at the test drive. Three lads stole it and the police never did find the car.

Your asking price is £150 above the Parkers guide price and about £250 above the Wise Buyers guide, like you said you have gone in a little bit high but knowing you may get the price knocked down.

A quick search on autotrader brings up a 53 plate 1.2 16V Dynamique with 41,000 miles for £3k from a dealer, with a bit of haggling should get a couple of hundred knocked off that, this is the sort of thing you are competing against.

Also is it worth dropping the bit about having the cambelt and water pump changed and just saying it has full service history, someone who does not know a lot about cars could read that and think those items have been changed because of a problem with the engine and not that they needed changing to comply with the servicing rules due to the cars age/mileage, just a thought imo.

Thats the PH ad, not alot of detail but its not a car I would expect to appeal to the audience of pistonheads. Just the key facts in the autotrader ad and the local paper as your limited by your number of words.
Im confident that the first person to see it will buy it, as its a minter, the beading on it this morning was sexytime! Its just a case of getting someone round

Its blocked in by a TT, another Clio and a Polo so its unlikely to get nicked. Its a risk im going to have to take as if I renew the insurance I will never get all that money back. When someone looks at it I will make sure im not alone.

Yeah its alittle over priced but cars are more expensive down south, directly above it in the autotrader is a mk2 ph 1 on 63k for £3500!
I take these valuations with a pinch of salt as its impossible to find one for sale around the figure of the valuation. In my area its the only ph2 forsale below £3k.
I agree to some extent about the cambelt but I was trying to make it stand out from similar cars in that it has been looked after. The service interval is 5yrs or 72k and alot of them out there haven't been done as people tend to wait till 72k despite the fact that the first ones on a Y and 51 plate are over 5yrs old.

Yeah mate i agree with what you are saying about giving as much info as possible, if i was looking for a car of that age/mileage and someone made a point of saying the cambelt and water pump had been changed, it would probably be the first car i would go and have a look at as you would be pretty confident that the owner has looked after the car properly.

Well done on the sale though, looks like someone got a good deal, your sale price was pretty much in the middle of the Parkers guide and Wise buyers guide, there the 2 sites i use as a starting point, the car i used as an example was located in the midlands, so maybe a little too far for someone from the south, although i would travel for the right car.
