More likely to buy a Cat 1 alarm for my own conscience than insurance. Though it does vary from company to company what level of discount they give for a Cat1 alarm

Told the only difference was the colouring of the wire, and the material of the computer casing between the CAT1 model and the normal model.

The CAT1 had all black wires and the normal one had coloured wires.
The CAT1 had the brain in a metal box, whereas the other one had it in a plastic box.

Id agree with that. Id rather that I had the best possibly "rating" for my alarm than not.

I was told that my valver would need a cat2 immob mimimumm.
As the standard alarm & immob wasnt approved i decided to get a cat1, I have no idea though if it reduced the insurance.
