Cat Fitting Kit

had my gearbox removed a few months back to be reconned, now the exhaust blows, mechanic friend thinks its the flexi joint, but i fail to see how it could be that tbh.

i'm thinking its far more likely to be the gasket between exhaust mani and cat downpipe.

does anyone know if that would have been moved when the dropped the subframe to get the box out?

also on the K4M lump what does the connection between exhaust mani and cat downpipe look like? is it like the 172 or is it 3 stud triangle shape?

if i get the fitting kit is it an easy DIY job to fit it?

oh just to add it stops blowing as badly once the engine is warm, but still blows a little bit under load.
