cat modification???

Has anyone had their cat modified?

I've been told that the 182 Cat has a smaller diameter exit pipe leaving it to go to the exhaust...A place has said that I can have this 'adapted' so that it is the same diameter and will release some extra power...has anyone had this modification done, or heard of it being able to be done?

I'm just asking, just in case its all a load of b****cks. Thanks in advance :)

That's brilliant, its good to know that at least one person has it...how do you find it? (Any real difference, or is it just placebo?)

i doubt any real difference, just go de cat and change it when its mot time. if you cant be arsed to fit it just nip it down to me and il get it up on a ramp, just takes 2 mins then

Its appreciated Rob, but its just the issues regarding having decat and accident...they will dry bum me. At least I keep the standard cat (as its 200 cell anyway, isn't it?) but the overall sound will be better. Also, I just want the exhaust to reflect the car (like my old one did on the 172 Cup!), But Thanks anyway :approve:

Difference wise it's hard to know. Would be minimal though. The joint is miles better though.
Standard cat is 200cell yes, so flows well enough to be honest. BTB said they didn't see the benefits of decat

Massive waste of money.

Getting cat back exhaust done anyway and my main aim is for it to sound better and not drop off like standard renault ones. If there is any difference, I know it wil be negligable, but just wondering if, while I'm getting rest done if that would be of any use. I've been quoted with it in, and its a good quote...so will go with it, just wondered if anyone had heard of it or had it done...obviously with a decat, there isn't much difference, but while still keeping cat, would there be any use.
 
Ok then, you'd be spending money on removing a tiny restriction that will make no difference to performance. Either get a decat or put the money towards a better mod, matched inlets if you haven't already?
