Cat Problem?

  Bus Winker
I don't know much about these things but I'm sure something is wrong here.

The picture below shows where I think the problem is. The bolt you can see is not attached to anything

I have noticed a kind of blowing when accelerating so would this be the cause?

Thanks,

Yeah ive been there, id recommend the genuine renault cat-manifold fittings as the cheaper ones a rubbish in my experience, id give Tom a shout at Wests Renault. You might hav a bit of a fight on your hands getting the rusted manifold cup-washers out mine took a good old smacking with the variable impacter

Is this going to be expensive to repair?

Will this be the cause of the lumpy blowing sound I'm getting?

Thanks,

I have just ordered some of these for mine as I am about to change the cat and they look like this.

Think the whole kit is about £20 inc bolts nuts springs etc.

It's about 30 quid if you want the genuine one.

I can't say for definite that its the cause but it's definitely a place to start as the bolts etc look shagged. When the engine is cold get under the car put your hands around the exhaust up and down and feel for blowing exhuast

Checked earlier today and it was blowing a fair bit.

I've replaced the bolt with a temporary fix until I can order the new part you suggested.
It's not rattling anymore but because the gasket needs replacing it is whistling a little bit as it is now tighter.

Thanks for the help.

Where did you get this from? I've pm'd wests renault but I have not had a reply yet and I'm in need of the parts fairly soon. Any ideas where I can get the kit from?

Thanks,

I only deal with Renault.

They usually have them in stock, but my luck was out this time.

Try ringing Wests.

Must have a Renault dealer in Nottingham,Iv'e given you the part no's.

Sealing kit the part number is: 6000073668 around £25, get it from renault, cheap fixes work for about a week, as they are spring loaded or something like that.
Hope that helps.

Just fitted the new fire ring and spring bolts.
It seems that the new fire ring has made it so that the cat and the manifold are a few extra mm apart and therefore the washer between them is doing nothing and is rattling.
Should I just remove the washer?

Thanks,
STRBramley
