cat to manifold bolt loose , only 1 bolt though????????

have had a rattling for a while and today decided to have a look , the 2 spring loaded bolts from cat to manifold is what i found to be loose , 1 of them is tight as it should be , and the other is loose as hell and rattling about , managed to get it off and re fit it but still loose.?????
any ideas if it could be the gasket . and how easy to fit to the 172 mk 2 ?

Are they excessively corroded?

Might have to get a new kit, pain to fit though.

No get an M8 shanked bolt and nut.

Just get another normal nut bolt and washer.

the bolts undo fine , just 1 bolt will not tighten anymore and is loose (at the end of its threads ). so cat is only tight on one side ? will a normal shanked nut and bolt do for now . dont want it falling off

Yea just do it until the spring goes tight and it'll be fine.

I bought a fitting kit from renault which managed to cover about 5k miles if that before the bolt broke, it was just the one which was on the passenger side though.

Strange.

thats the one which is loose on mine , passenger side . so what is the size bolt i need , m8 ? as above what length so im not buying loads lol ? cheers for the help guys

M6 I believe and about 40-50mm threaded all the way

Just get a proper kit, it will save no end of pissing about

Yea if you don't have a bolt laying about its the same effort getting a kit than it is a hardware store for a bolt!

i can get any size bolts from work lol so just need the size , but will deffo get a propper kit eventually
