CD-R Files Help?

i have a CD-R with my old school photos on, its about 25 years old. when i put it into my laptop a few years ago it worked and i was able to view files/photos.

just put it in and its saying this folder is empty?
its a cd-r so im assuming the files cant have been deleted?
when i check storage there is 50mb used on the cd.

can anyone help?

Can't have been deleted if it's CD-R, only CD-RW are the rewritable ones.

Definitely the right disc?

the cd has cd-r written on it, but in my computer it says DVD RW. its not even a DVD.

They don't have an unlimited shelf life, IIRC UV and stuff can degrade the media and leave you with nothing.

windows still displays the name of the CD, i called it andy.

It could be fooked mate... I've got loads that have degraded and now fail read properly, if at all. ☹️

Depends just how badly it’s screwed, but recuva is worth a shot.

It could just take a different unit with a better laser to read it, but it’s likely degradation of the media is too severe.
