Central locking problem

Car  Monaco 172
Before you say it, I've searched.

Basically when I come to unlock the car with the key fob it takes a few presses to get it to work, and I have to be right next to the car.

But the other times it'll lock/unlock at first press?

Any ideas?

iv just sorted this on another car, try splitting the fob in two and check that everything is still attached sometimes the soulder can break and it doesnt always make a connection.

just get a small screwdriver and carefully split it, they can sometimes be quite akward :S

Noooo

Take the key off any keyring and on the back you will notice a mark on the back pointing downwards.

with the arrow facing you hold the key with the with the "key ring loop thing" on the left and basically push the top of that part whilst you other hand pushes up from the bottom where the key is.

So your pushing the 2 bits opposite each other. I just did that to mine and it took 5 seconds!

You weed ;)

First ioff press the button and make sure the led light comes on??

It could be the battery thats getting flat..hence why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt...failing that you will have to pop the pcb out and have a look at the on the underside

CR1220 iirc...about £2 from tescos I think...Maybe even less than that!

If its still faulty bump this thread :)

I have a similar issue. Just bought my 172 yesterday but you have to be right next to the car to lock/open it. The light on the key lights up everytime so surely it can't be the battery?
