Central Locking Reciever Question

If I got a spare central locking reciever from another clio and put it in mine would the fob recognise it and let me open/lock the car as normal?

As far as I was let to believe its the key thats coded not the actual reciever..

Is that correct?

Nope,

They need to be matching.
There are code numbers inside each.
