Centre Console Modification

Im currently working on getting a PC installed into my car. Main reason being that I can integrate all of what i want (mp3's, Gps, OBD etc etc) into one unit and not have to worry about having a Stereo and a Tom Tom (or whatever!), Radar Detector etc.

The screen is going to sit where the radio and Hazard lights currently are, with a bit or fiddling and moving the aircon down slightly this will fit a treat. Only issue I got is ware to mount the switches for Hazard lights, Doors and rear Heater.

If you look at the photos on here im think that the door lock could be put near the gearknob somewhere, The Heater just next to it (Point nearest the handbrake) then the Hazard switch just to the right of ware the radio currently is, just left of the steering wheel.

Any thoughts??

There isnt any law regarding the position of a hazard swicth is there?? from what I can read there isn't??!!

re. the law no there isn't. a lot of cars have them on top of the steering wheel mount, a 206 has it in front of the lcd display at the top of the centre console. i think that the places you've suggested are good ideas. but the hazard switch might look a bit out of place. also will there be enough room for the 2 switches next to the gear stick?

Yeah i think there should be... only problem i can see is getting my hands in there etc to extend the cables!! Or failing that im just going to put the door lock in-front of the gearknob (providing the handbrake isnt too close to it!) And having the Heated screen just above the light dim switch (for the dash)

Bit different on the ph2 but I removed the ashtray, fag lighter and the locking switch. Relocated the locking switch to the pannel to the right of the steering column. Its only a TFT not touch screen but works well.

Rich what type of bulbs did u use to do the LCD that shows temperature and time??

I tried to read through your guide but didnt/couldnt find the info!

Been thinking about putting some footwell lighting in mine that comes on with the interior light. Just wondering how you've done yours? Feeds wise etc? Would probably use conventional bulbs over leds.

Since the fag lighter was removed with the ashtray etc used the feed from that to power the screen and the neons.... gonna rip mine out anyway I never use em.. was from my younger MUST HAVE ICE days, gone back to standard now.

only law regarding your hazard light button is that it has to operate the hazard lights using only one click with both ignition on and off. doesnt matter where it is aslong as you can still do that.

made my own, remove the bulb, keep the metal prongs, solder in an SMD and resistor

It looks the shizzle in the dark, the TFT hooks upto anything really, xbox, my laptop, video camera... what ever. Tried loads of stuff on it wicked picture. I got a spare one of those screens been sat here for time cant find any use for it.

Yep i looked at his site... thats whats inspired me... some amazing stuff there!! Got most of the hardware now just got to install it and run it up.. will post up some pics when its all gravy baby!

Ive seen the same setup in a fiesta just not as good as his one. Fair play it is well nice.
Its pretty easy to relocate the switch anywhere you want as long as its not somwhere stupid.
I was thinking of doing something similar but couldn't be bothered in the end lol

Nah when I first got my RS I was still in a bit of a boy racer phase wanting subs and screens and stuff but got an education on cliosport and now Im just interested in quick and light weight.... if it doesn't need to be in the car its been ripped out already
