Changing dials from standard to sport

  GOLF GT TDI
i have got a W reg clio with standard clio dials (without a rev counter) but i want to fit the Cliosport dials instead can this be done? posts would be grateful

thanks

I would say it could be done but whether or not the rev counter would work without putting in extra cabling is another matter.

yeah but i might as well fit a stand alone rev counter really does anyone have any diagrams on how to do this

im trying to do the same thing mate. as for the rev counter you can get standalone ones that are apparently easy to fit (i dont know from personal experiance) but i think it just involves one wire. if you can wait untill saturday i can get specific details on the dial and fitting.

stand alone rev counters are usually controlled by the ignition.

I'd imagine the wiring will be there for the rev counter - just a different instrument panel.

i hope it would be that easy as a simple dial replacment do you really think the french would make it that easy. also wouldnt the milage be wrong?

yeah i can wait till wednesday the long time i can put off riping my interiour out the better lol

the 1's with cliosport wont fit apparntly. i had the normal plain ****y one's in the clio and changed them for white 1's from a clio mtv and works fine.

Yeah, its as easy as pie, it took me only about 15mins top.

There are three screws along the top of the dash in the vents, two on either end by the doors and then 2 above the dials and another 2 behind the steering column guard. So about 9 then another 2 holding the dials in. The pictures might help better.

(Make sure you remove these first or the dash wont pull out)

Hi, my car has a passanger airbag, is there any danger of it ging off if I followed the pics on here. I note that yours doesn't have a passanger airbag.

Cheers

Glyn

just make sure you pull the dash towards you (towards the back of the car) and NOT upwards... this way the airbag will be fine :)

Taken my dash off more times than ive filled up with petrol lol.

hey,
my first post here. getting my clio on wed....come over from the pug 206 side of the world :) looking at doing some small mods already. one thing i noticed about the dials is the rev counter is 8k on the sport dials and only 7k on standard, does this cause a prob? also does it cause ur speedo to be inacurate?

Hi mate Welcome To The Clio Side and of course better i dont have a clue i wanted to do it but i aint sure yet

  Renault clio 1.2 dynamiqu
i am about to put sport 172 dials in a 1.2 dynamique because i put a richwood (think thats wot it called) back ground on the standard dials and it send the clocks totally off calibration and now the computer doesnt work correctly. will let you no how it gets on

  Mégane RS
i wanted to do this but i am unsure at how accurate the dials would be and with the amount of gatso's around it could only end in disaster really

  Golf GTI 1.8T
would have to run with sat nav to find out vinny, I know mine is about 4mph out, at 74mph sat nav shows 70mph which is quite an advantage to me as I will think I'm going faster when I'm not.

  Mégane RS
Yeah i think mine is out too as i'm on 17's and havent had it calibrated, although the overal milage might be higher than it should be if it says your going faster than you are actually going
