Changing Dogbone mount later, any tips?

  Valver
Right last thing left to change before MOT on Thurs so any advice for doing it? Gonna do it with the haynes but just wandered if anyone has any advice/tips from previous experience!

straightforward mate, my clios a mk2 but i'd imagine their pretty much the same,2 big bolts out, mount of new mount on to big bolts back in and go an give it a boot

no reason you have to, all that mount is stop the engine kicking back so much the gearbox and top mounts are the ones that hold it in place, will be a lot easier lining up the bolts if its free to move back an forth anway

Jack the car up high.
That mount wear more than the rest as during hard acceleration and braking the engine pushes again it the other two share the load over a greater area and are better.

Might find you have to take exhaust off

On mine with a supersprint i had to cut the bolts to get them out as exhaust was in way, did one on a std 16v a while back and that worked with just levering the exhaust downpipe downwards just enoguh to slide the bolt out.

Apart from that its a 5 mins job, providing nothing is seixzed, as above no need to support engine

Can anyone confirm which side the bolts are mean to go in through ie ns/os and which side the bolts are meant to be on, because the bolts are touching the exhaust which has been causing it to rattle pretty bad...

I need to do mine on the 1.4 soon. I just got mine from the local motor fators for about £15, but I've been told by a few people since that non-genuine renault ones tend to need replaced after not too much time. I think hillpower do an uprated one, or I think theres some people on other forums who will make up an uprated one cheaper as the hillpower ones are about £50 iirc, I think it was on f7power.co.uk I saw someone offering them.

Hmmm ill see what i can find, an uprated one would be good once the turbos in, but 50+ seems a bit dear. See what you can find out off thta f7power website

£27+vat from renault but not sure I got the right one, seems way smaller than the one I had on there before but maybe technology has just moved on...

Found the post. It's this one HERE. You would be better to speak to him (Neal) on retro-renault.co.uk though as he's on there loads. I think it would definately be a lot cheaper than going to Hillpower (I think it was them anyway)

If you just go over tyo retro-renault.co.uk and PM someone called Neal about it then it's the same guy. I think it will be a lot cheaper than renault - he doesn't really advertise them but he says in that thread I linked to that he's willing to do them for people at a price , but much cheaper than hillpower.
