changing gearing

is it possible to change the gearing in a 1.2 16v to make it accelerate much better but keep 5th the same? i assume it would involve changing cogs etc but not sure if its even possible

ure never gonna get a 1.2 to accelerate faster its pointless just get a 1.6 or summat
