Changing headlight bulb

My headlight bulb went the other day so i took a trip 2 Halfords and matched the part number up in the book they have by the bulbs

Found out earlier its the wrong bulb...and it took me ages to try and take the air filter pipe out so i could get at the back of the light unit!

The bulb looks like its a sealed unit...will i have to goto the Renault dealer to get a new bulb?

Also whats the easiest way of changing these bulbs coz there isnt much room there to change it!

There not a sealed unit. I'll have a look how you chnage them in a minute though.

got one in front of me here cos just took one of mine out which had gone.
its a phillips hbs. 60w.
if you type hb3 in on e bay you can get em off there and they are the same bulb.
hope this helps and that filter pipe does get in the way dont it.
you have to undo the plug then the full thing twints and comes out.
type it in on e bay and there is a picture so you know what you are taking out.

I had picked up the wrong bulb in Halfords! Doh!

Ok i have the correct bulb now...only problem now is fitting the damn thing!

Do i need to remove the air filter pipes?

Or is there an easier way?

just pull the front one off the filter box. then you have enough room.

No it's just extremely tight. I got mine in without doing this on a Mk1 172.

I hate headlight bulbs on 172 clios, especially the drivers side one, have the french got small hands or something??? AAARRRGGGGGHHH!!!!!

So am I correct in that the Mk1 172 uses HB3 for headlight (ie the single light), and H4 for dipped (sidelight) and main beam (full beam). Sorry terminology is getting to me.
