Changing Suspension - Advice

  Clio 172 mk2 & Clio 3 DCi
Changing my shocks on the weekend, nevfer done them on a clio.

Anything to look out for?. Should be relatively straight foward i hope.

Does anyone have a downloadable service manual?.

Also anyone know the torque settings required?.

Cheers

Theres a guide on here somewhere dave. Are you doing front or back?? Back is very easy, its just 2 bolts, the front can be a little trickier. You will need spring clamps for the front..

Rear torque settings:
Top shock nut 20NM
Bottom shock bolt 105NM

Front torque settings:
Top strut nut 60NM
Lower strut bolts 105NM

could anyone clear up a few queries I have with this post?

on the front shocks is the 20NM figure for the nut you remove loosely (you later remove this nut to remove the shock from the car) or is it for the nut that you remove once the springs are compressed to allow removal of the front springs?

onto the rears. I have read through the guide and it seems only one bolt needs loosening, is this bolt the one that has to be done up to 105NM (the one holding the damper in place?)

thank you

The 20NM Nut is the top mount that you can see in the engine bay. If its a 172 you may be able to remove the rear springs without removing the lower shock nut. If not then to be honest you can remove either just to lower the trailing arm down further to pop the spring out.
