Changing the locks/keys - what do I need?

My mate's just bought an old 02 reg DCi for cheap but needs to change the ignition barrel apparently (I've been assured it's not dodgy).

What will he need for the change?

Reading on here I'm assuming full lock set, UCH (whatever that is), ECU (under ashtray?), ignition barrel and new keys - all from the same model car as he has (DCI 65)?

Rough prices?

For the ignition barrel? He says he's changed the barrel and got the keys for new barrel, but it won't start or appear to deactivate the immobiliser?

It's way over my head. Your advice is priceless DC.

ahhhhh! just assumed that was ECU cos of where you plug RS Tuner in. ECU will be that black area behind the battery?

Yep that's it mate. Think his problem maybe to do with the immobiliser ring around the outside of the ignition barrel if it won't work.

What you plug into is the obd port.

Ah I see! Cheers dude. So it's just locks, barrel and this ring thingy and it should be ok off the replacement key?

Not 100% as i have never done it but i think you need the uch and ecu as well because afaik they are all coded to each other.

Get him to tell you what the immobiliser light does when he tries to start it.

Sorry, apparently the immobiliser light stays solid and the 'STOP' light comes on. It turns over but it won't fire up. Still immobilised? Complete change of everything needed?

Any clues?

just change the little mother board over in the keys its that litle chip which deactivates the immobiliser... i smashed a key on my 1st clio so had to hold the blade with the board for it to start lol
