Changing Xenon bulbs

  Black Gold 172 FF
I have recently purchased a new xenon bulb for my 03 plate clio 172 as the offside one has stopped working, i have had a quick look and it seems very dificult to get your hand in to get the power pack and bulb out! is there an easy way to do this job? someone told me i will have to take all the front bumper off to get access to the light is this correct?

to be honest mate that would be the best way, you can take the whole headlight cluster out that way and then you have got alot more room to fiddle about with
Out of interest how much did the bulb cost?

im a bit confused, are we talking about HID xenons, or the bulbs just filled with xenon gas?

I'll guess that he's bought the bulb thinking its a HID xenon one when it isn't, the HID bulbs are about £90.

To change the bulbs its a bumper off, headlight out job really. Thats not as daunting as it sounds btw.

Thats what i thought, i thought renault had to supply and fit them themselves as the wattage of the bulbs are mega high

HID are high intensity discharge, does your car have headlight washer jets on the front bumper?

No you can get them from quite a few places on the net etc, there D2S fitment bulbs so as long as there D2S bulbs they'll fit. The wattage of a hid xenon bulb is actually quite a bit lower than a normal halogen bulb as well just for a bit of trivia.

i have just spoken to renault mate, they said usually it is the ballast which goes on them, also there is a relay in the passenger footwell which can pop loose and cause the lights to fail

Yeh thats usually the case, swap the bulbs over before you buy a new one.

Sounds simple but to be honest i completly forgot that you could do this!! lol
Whatever you do dont electroconicute yourself, they have lots of volts n stuff :)
