Chasing that missfire

Trying to diagnose a missfire at idle on my 182, nothing showing on diagnostic, changed lambda and coilpack as due course but hasnt made much difference, clean TB, inlet air temp and map. Cleaning the map and wrapping some PTFE tape around it seemed to make some difference for a day or so but its back now. With the engine running iv just unplugged the MAP and the engine cut out (assume this should happen?) when i unplug the inlet temp nothing changes at all, is that right? If not ill be testing the injectors over the weekend. And giving the TDC a clean

In a similar position myself at the minute. Runs perfect other than when crawling along in first gear where it's very burbley

I recently had an issue where I would misfire on idle (eventually my EML would flash) but seemingly run fine when moving and the light disappear. From my experience misfire screams injectors - I can't remember what brand but search the threads as they apparently only like a certain brand of injector (mine ate through a set of 'top end (and priced)' GSF injectors.

If you have a way of doing some data logging this may help to find the problem, if you are changing injectors only use genuine ones not copy's

Injector tbh

Ok so whats the best way of checking the injectors? Taking them out and cranking the engine and see which is the one/ones at fault or testing them with a multimeter?

Honestly couldn't tell you (I don't know anything mechanically sorry!) I think we took them out checking, but also on an ODE? reader it told us which injector was faulty

Pull each injector one by one, and when you find one that doesn't make any difference in how its running that's the dodgy one, takes about 30 minutes. Just spray the fuel rail guard bolts the day before as they can snap then its a real c*nt of a job.

You can take them out and check the resistance of them. They should all be about the same and near a certain value.

I replaced all of mine with new ones from europarts but it didn't solve the problem

Did you make sure they were all the correct brand? (As I said above I cant remember so search other threads but they apparently only get along with this one brand)

  dan's cast offs.
should be the same but i've read that if they don't come with clips they aren't genuine, how true that is i don't know? could just be internet crap!! generally the fakes i've seen don't have the logo etc on the socket.

Have you actually checked the injectors yet? :D Just unplug the plug from them and see if it make a difference to how it runs or not, if you find one that doesn't make a difference then that's the likely the cause of a problem.

Afternoon guys, just come back in from testing the injectors (pulling the plug) they all made a differance upon unplugging but some more so that others. Unplugging the one nearest the drivers side (4?) made a differance but less so than the others. Im in the mind to just carry on driving until somthing shows up on the code reader or it gets progressivly worse as from this the injectors are ok?
Might be worth getting the timing checked by somone in the know if anyone can recommend me anyone in the west mids or midlands? Not sure how much or how big of a job it is to check the timing on these.

Plugs have been replaced about 2weeks ago and leads are blue magnacors, visually seem in good condition but may take my friend up on the offer of trying his spares out. Other than that im out of ideas 😂

  dan's cast offs.
unplugging the injectors only tells you if it's working on idle. haven't got a lead pinched have you?

timing check is pretty easy but looking at map reading on idle should tell you if it's ok or not most of the time.
