LG 50pk590 plasma is the best you can get. I just spent ages looking and got that and its stunning to watch. Full 1080p and THX certified and looks nice... There are 3 huge threads about it on avforum under the LG section. I ended up getting mine for £605 after discounts.

Wow where did you get that from RN1?!?

Is it better than a Panasonic though, I keep hearing they are the best?

According to people on avforum they are better than the pana g20 and v20' s and they cost loads more... plenty have converted to LG now. worth a look on the forum. I will post a link to the thread when I get home.
Got mine from dixons with a code from hot UK deals and 3% cash back from quidco. Richer sounds do good deals on it also...

oh it will have, they all do. Panasonic have created the set so that it deliberately ups the voltage at about 500 hours then 1000 hours so that no pixels become stuck or similar, resulting in more than a double increase in black mml levels... same as 2009 models but more gradual.

Less screen burn for the win tbh

Think you mean image retention tbh;), it's near impossible to burn a modern plasma these days. I have to say the 590 suffers from very little retention and it goes very quickly when it does.

Here are to favorable reviews for the 590

And the 3rd avforum thread. The other 2 are easy to find:approve:

wrong. Walk into currys digital and look at the screen burn on the LG's. Lesson learned and i didn't even need to link you anything!

image burn is when it never goes your saying youve sat there and watched a tv tin currys for years to see if it fades lol image retention is when it stays for a while

doesn't fade, they play their advert on it allday everyday and the LG's had burn. The staff told me as much and turned the set off, it was awful. Just cause you have an LG doesn't mean it's rubbish, you don't need to defend it, i'm just saying they do suffer from that, or at least the ones i looked at did...and yes it was only LG and yes it was ALL of them in currys digital purley - the massive one!

..maybe the news one have some new tech in them which stops it. It was importanbt to me as i play a lot of games, which have a fair bit of static stuff on screen.

And you go by what the staff at currys tell you lol?
Bet if you run some slides on it for 10 min that help get rid of bad retention then they would go... and I also bet if you used one under normal home conditions nothing of the kind would happen.

I only put the links in to help guide the op...

screen burn is an old thing crt's were really bad for it
i dont know why the department stores insist on having static images on their sets its hardly the way to show them off

lg and samsung are slightly worse than panasonics for image retention but the panny's are far from problem free. Panasonics suffer from false contouring/Posterization/Banding/Floating Blacks/Black mll rise Etc.

exactly to say go for one brand every time is shear lunacy since no 2 pannels are the same you need to take every tv on its individual merits just because the topof teh range 4k panosonic gets great reviews doesnt mean every panasonic is great

tv's have just as many fanboys as the 360 and ps3 debates

even the mighty kuro's have lots of issues !

Exactly! No tv is perfect but out of this year range Panasonic seem to have more problems than the LG's going by the research I put in when deciding what to get and they cost a lot more!

Can't you get the equivalent model of that TV minus the 3D?

Just realised we have 2 50+" LGs in our canteen at work and they both have a really good picture I have to say...although only got BBC news on there!

Yes that artcle was pretty techy, didn't understand half of what it was saying but the general impression I got from it was that it's a good TV.

Interesting though as I always thought I'd just get another 40" Sony LCD, now looking like a slightly larger Panasonic or LG plasma!

I have a fairly new house.Only like 12 years old.Will i have a problem putting a plasma on a modern plasterboard wall??

You can special fixings for plasterboard. They go through and then spread out so they grip if that makes sense.
