Cheapest and most effective way to improve clio acceleration..

  No car
Just trying to find out what would be the cheapest and most effective way to improve acceleration.

Obviously theres taking out all the excess stuff like rear seats, parcel shelf, roof lining etc etc.

But what else could be done to improve acceleration ?

anyone on CS hitting a 0-60mph in 5 seconds or less in their clio?

are you serious?!! you would need to be turbo or supercharged to reach those figures, stripped out etc...not going to be cheap .

ohh i meant both of those seperately.. as in whats the cheapest but most effective to improve acceleration and was wandering if anyone on here has a clio with a 0-60 of 5 seconds or less.

I think you could get the 0-60 down into the 5's N/A.

I'd Strip it completely, I mean literally nothing left in just the speedo and rev counter. Chop down the wiring loom, chop out the excess metal out of the boot, front doors and bonnet. Bin the Stereo and speakers aswell.

Then I'd add cams, exhaust, improve the inlets and remap.

Then get yourself some Road legal semi-slicks like an R888, AD08 etc.

I didnt think mine was far off it before stripped with 175bhp, its all in the launch, its all good fun stripping it out especially when you're going faster for absolutely free

A higher final drive with definately improve acceleration, although that won't be cheap.

sub 5 seconds 0-60 is f**king fast in a fwd car. good luck. off the top of my head i can't think of any production car that comes close - all are nearer 6 seconds regardless of power output.

would like to see anyone who claims their car can do this, showing verified proof, not just some iphone app that vaguely uses GPS

more power just means more wheelspin

Will filming a speedo do?

Mine did a 5.2 0-60 last year at croft on a Ford RS day, it was the quickest FWD car on the day, probs could have got it down abit more with semi slicks. There was a 400bhp mk2 focus rs doing 5.6 all day he couldnt get his time down & they have a fancy diff.

You beat me to it steve lol

Wow, that looks epic and sounds amazing! Must be alot of fun on track?

  53 Clio's & counting
No quick way to make an actual difference -as Chris has said, weight loss will give the biggest difference, you might knock .3 or .4 off your 0-60 time, but it will sound faster due to no interior.

My itb's knocked exactly 1 second off my 0-60 time, and about 1 second off 1/4 mile time.

Oh wow that's a big difference! Would you say that ITB's are worth the money though? What price region would you be looking at?
