Cheapest & Best Sat Nav

Morning all,

Could do with getting a Sat-Nav, but don't want to spend too much money. Just enough to get me a practical and extremely usable unit, with speed camera's if possible.

Don't really wanna spend over £150 - £200.

Any recomendations?

Also, would be helpful if I could get it from a shop, as I'll need it for the weekend, but web links are also good.

Cheers All.

Deeg.

No subscription cost, just by new maps when outdated

It is ready to go out of the box as far as being able to use it immediatly goes (even battery was almost fully charged on mine). However The speed cameras I had to pay a £20 annual subscription for, which I personally was happy to do. The traffic updates are an extra £40 I believe but not too sure, both the cameras and traffic are entirely optional and you do not have to pay any subscription if you just want the other features.

£99 bought me a garmin i3, got one for my dad for £65 off ebay.

Only downside is lack of touch screen, so I'd go for a Garmin with touchscreen.

Just looked at my subscription details and it says I signed up with Traffic and Speed Cameras for £33.89 for a year. You can buy the speed camera subscription on it's own for a lot less.

Had forgotten I signed up with the traffic also lol, gonna try it out later!

Think I'm gonna go for the tomtom one.

Bonus about the speed camera's - Do you know if that is justa leaflet in the box or something? Or is there a code you need?

Also - How do the updates for traffic work? Are they done via satalite? Or do you have to have the unit connected to something else? As you can probably tell, I know nothing.

Cheers for all the advice people.

Dont go for traffic updates, the system is just those boxes on top of motorway signs, out of date by about 15 years, the garmin and navman have started using navteq software, which at the moment isn't as reliable but is soon going to be better than the tom tom software, watch out!

the traffic you have to pay for the aerial then pay for the service not worth it imo, the speed cameras have a promotional code which you download form tom tom with
