"To prepare the way for a possible new junior rally car, Citroën Sport has produced the Citroën Sport C2 Concept. Based on a shortened C3 platform - the rally car does not need the family carrying ability of the C3 - the style of the C3 has also been changed to produce a more aggressive, performance orientated style.
Nor is this car a show pony. Under the bonnet is a fully rally ready 1.6 litre 225 bhp engine which, combined with a six speed gearbox and a 1000 kg weight means that the performance will match the looks"

Thats the Clio Maxi - still the fastest FWD rally car to date and holding many tarmac stage records. The car was homologated from the Clio 16v, and then when they took full advantage of the Group A 2.0 engine size limit, the homologated car was the Williams.

That was in the days when FWD cars still competed successfully with the likes of the Escort Coswoth and early Scoobies/Evos.

Now the FWD action is all in the Super 1600 series.
