Cheep Setup sounds good

  350z & 16v Maxi

Right ok my wee bro has a VW Polo and has bought 6.5" Components and a set of 6x9s running of the HU. We just put a couple of low pass filters on the 6x9s and it sounds surprisingly good. (Well for the money anyway) It sounds better than his mates car with a sub in it.

well tbh your mates sub must be weak.

6x9s running of the head unit is never gonna give the low sounds produced by a sub.

6x9s do certainly give a nice beat, but its a budget system!

Honestly mate youd be surprised. Its got a 100hz low pass filter on them and i promise they sound GOOD, for a budget system.

I think ive said this before but you can get results by not spending much. I once saw a Clio with a pair of DLS 7x10s in it..no sub involved. They were boxed with 4" ports and getting around 250watts RMS each. Suprisingly good quality even though it couldnt drop low enough. He even had the treble running through the tweeters on them. I could still hear it when it was parked next to my car with 4x Pro Plus subs on full whack...so i upgraded pretty quick.

maybe im wrong to judge!

but i just love subs now, im one of the converted...and i cant see me ever having a car without a sub again!

You can do some astonishing things without subs in cars with nice small well sealed boots. I had a R5 once upon a time which sounded gorgeous but eventually I put subs in...

Subs are awesome, if they werent i wouldnt have 2 £300 subs sitting in my room waiting to go in my car. Just it sounded pretty good for not having one.
