chepo carbon case induction kit

  CLIO Iceberg 172
just seen this on the fleebay and was thinking.....the princable is the same, the materials dont look any diffrent.... so was wondering if this would be viable instead of spending out 300+ on a maxagen

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Universal-Car...hash=item230275698225&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

is this really any different to what a diy or V6 airbox conversion would be like?

couldnt you use this as a starting point and build on it.... i.e. bigger hoses etc

looking for a constructive debate....

Look at the reducers on it in the pic mate, It looks like the airbox is only around 60mm then they have adapters to take it upto 70mm so your engine is in theory going to get very starved of air.. plug one of your cold air feeds on your standard airbox & do a 20 miniute drive.. then you will prob have the same performance as installing one of these, i wish a decent air box could be sorted for under £50 but just look at what every one is running on here, either itg pannel or itg max

Also at that price think how shite the filter is going to be.. now replacing valves from them getting shite between them is going to cost more than ITG max lol

It says in the description that it is 12cm (120mm) wide so twice as big as your guessing .If the filter is s**t you could always change it for a green or k+n cone filter . It looks alright from the pic and description imo .

For under £40 you would seriously put this on your car? Its a piece of shite end off.. pipercross open filters are £70 & that doesnt include the fancy carbon look box & cold air feed.. have learnt this lesson the hard way.. you get what you pay for

i agree with you get what you pay for! just stick with the standerd airbox mate until you can find a good piece of kit ;)

what made me wonder was when i looked about i found it was the same dimms and contstruction as some of the £130+

imo most of the actual elements tend to perform pretty much the same. we are talking less than 1bhp between different makes.

however, what will kill your airflow is that nasty convoluted hose! if you ask me i would never ever use that stuff on an inlet system as it makes the air so turbulent it just kills the air speed. for example. on a 6.0ltr v8 i once worked on we saw a 28bhp increase when the convoluted stuff was changed for smooth internal samco!
