ChipsAway, Yeovil (David Notley)...

Hey all,

Wanting to tidy up me car and get rid of all the little scratches...

I know ChipsAway is a Franchise and you'll only get as good as the bloke in question, so anyone heard of the above guy, used him or can recommend him...

Tried searching Google and nothing, plus no one i know has used him ha!!

chips away are all cow boys, theres plenty of better mobile body repairers, they just dont get the training needed imo

Been reading on here some are good, some are bad, depends on their techniques and equipment they use, also whether they use single pack or two pack paint system! But there's nothing bout the Yeovil dude...

Any one you'd recommend...

They done an awsome job on 2 of my 172 alloys.

It was raining, he set up a big tent on my drive, lamps, compressor, every thing. Had 2 alloys done in an hour, and they were fucked, £50

I've had two chips-away guys around, both were muppets. I'd go somewhere else.

Just read quite a good review thing over on PistonHeads, bloke fully explained the whole ChipsAway thing and how they work...but...still had the same problems being reported, i.e. un-interested guys, defective paint after a few months, naff initial repair etc...! Also, silver is a pig of a colour to 'touch' in with the ChipsAway technique, and guess what, damn it!

Are there any other SMART repair'ers you guys would recommend, any of you with silver Clio's had SMART repairs!?!

Easiest would be for me to just get a proper panel respray, but hey hehe!

I belive you cant SMART repair a bonnet due to the paint used the heat distroys it, and it being such a flat surface the finnish is naff also remember it is only a cosmetic fix so will only last a max of 5 years.

what will only last 5 years??
the bonnet is normally not done by smart repairers because its such a large panel and is also the only panel that you will see every single little imperfection! i even know that some bodyshops wont touch 'just' a bonnet due to getting a spot on colour match...
