my engine is developing a kindof "chirping" noise which id assume can only be either a belt needing tightened or some kinda of pulley. If its the pulley how easy would this be to sort? i.e. would it be another engine out job do you think?
Get under your bonnet, engine runing and get a mate to turn the wheel all the way, left and right, watch the PAS pulley and see if the belt slips over the pully. If it does, replace the belt. Its a light/bonnet off operation so not too bad.
could be a number of things.if its one of the cambelt tensioners/idlers then thats when it gets pricey.you could remove the aux belt and then restart the engine to see if the noise has gone.at least this way you know wether its on the cambelt or aux belt.
Pretty sure its not the cambelt idlers/tensioners as the car was reconditioned a year ago so they *should* have been replaced. However, the engine was out less than a month ago so i recon theyve either knocked the alternator (loosening the belt) or due to the fact i dont have the front splash guard all this wet weather has caused corrosion or something....err....i think!
