Chop the RS-1 in for a 182/CTR? Or wait for the RS-3? Aghh! Advice!?

Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a mix on what to do now my car is paid for. As most of you know, at the moment i have the RS-1 in the picture.

Went and had a look round at a few places with the old king at the weekend, as he was picking up his new car. Saw a couple of really nice 182's in the spec i would like (racing blue). Also a CTR, again in the spec i would like (cosmic grey, a/c, low miles)

My original plan was to keep the RS-1 until the new RS model comes out and order one in the later part of this year. But lately i'm getting really tempted by low price versions of soon-to-be-replaced models.:S

I really just wondered what everyone else would do in my situation, and if you think the new model will be worth the wait?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

ps. my car is not for sale at this time, so please don't pm.:)

I'd stick around for the new Renaultsport Chris....

If you went for a 182 you may end up regretting not holding out for the new one.....

Hold your fire... and stick it out imho.. no bad thing in that mint RS1 you have

Cheers

if you decide you dont like the new RS then get a 182 or something cause the prices would have come down :(

id wait for the new one.

im waiting for new RS diesel 177bhp :approve:

details here ------------->

A new 177bhp 2.0 dCi diesel engine is snappy enough to propel the Altica from 0-62mph in a mere 7.5 seconds. Boast-ing 380Nm of torque, the powerplant is teamed with a six-speed transmission to provide smart take-off and exciting mid-range acceleration. This motor will debut in Renault's current-shape Laguna GT dCi 175 later on this month

i am told this is earmarked for the clio and megane RS versions.

currently a new 2.0 dci is avails in the megane with 150 on offer

Don't go for the 182 or the new RS Clio. The 182 is too similar to the 172 you already have to be bothering with. You'll have to wait ages for the new RS Clio and I bet it'll be pricey (£16k or even more maybe?). What you should do is get yourself to motorpoint and get yourself a new megane 225 NOW! They're on there for £15k so after additional charges you're looking at under £16k for a better car. IMO anyway.

  106 GTi
I would be tempted to at least wait for the MK3 to find out what its like, Saying that if you find a bargain 182, at least you will know what your getting.

  SLK 350
Personally i'd chop your RS-1 in for a 182, keep it for 18 months and then trade that for the RS-3. That way at least some of the depreciation will have already occured on the RS-3 meaning you save cash, and your buying a car thats been run in and loosened up.

New car = mugs game.

I'd wait for the new RS, or Corsa VXR or new Civic Type-RR. Or even the new (dare i say it) Punto Abrarth, 230bhp and 4WD!! Madness. All similar money as well. I'd hold on to your RS-1 as its in top condition!

I would wait. The residuals are bad enough without buying an outgoing model 6 months before a new one arrives...

IMO the new car doesn't look half as good as the outgoing model.....matter of preference though and I suppose I did only see a base model of the new Clio, sport may look the tits

yeh, wait till the new one, the 182 aint reali that much diffrent too ur car imo, same drivetrain, chassis, engine etc

They had a new clio all tarted up with sporty looking bits on display in my local renault. It wasn't for sale so I dunno what it was for. I've also seen the new clio styling catalogue from renault. From both of these I can imagie what the new RS will look like, and it's fairly average. Picture a slightly meaner, bigger 206 GTi. Nice, but nothing to take your breath away.

Only cars i'd ever sell my car for are Focus RS, Mitsi Evo6, Scoob TypeR, ITR, Punto Abarth.

If you're going to get rid, you want F***ing. Your Car is a beaut, and IMO, you'd be changing for the sake of it, not because you really really want something else.

  Weeman sucks ****
I'm in a similar situation too chris but mine's done 65,000 miles. But got the cambelt and a few other bits done at the weekend as I've decided to stick with it.

I also agree wih superfastdan, there's only a few cars out there I'd go for over the clio. I test drove the focus ST the other day although it's nice, not for me. ITR, Focus RS (if I could test one), lotus elise 160 or if they had a bigger petrol tank a lupo gti would be bought tomorrow.

I'd say keep it, coilovers on and you're sorted.

  Ziel Nurburgring
Its a shame the ITR does you dry on insurance.

Id get some coilovers, and some mild work done at GDI etc and keep it until the new Cupra R or CTR-R is out.

You lose loads of money swapping your cars every 18 months as well, I bought my 182 new and intend to keep it for a long time so therefore the depreciation is spread over a longer time, i do agree that buying a new car and selling it after a couple of years is the same as burning your money

Wait for the new RS3, test drive at multiple dealers to get the feel for more than one of them, then decide, then order, then wait, then cherish, again!! :D
