Cig lighter wiring questions

  Golf Mk6 Oil Burner

Done a search but nothing to 100% confirm the following...

Hardwiring my road angel 2 to the cig lighter.

The cig lighter has big red/yellow wire (assume live), black (assume earth) and light blue (assume neutral).

The road angel has red (assume live) and black (assume earth)

Is this correct?

Also will i have to put an inline fuse in? or will the cig lighter already be fused? if so what size fuse needed?

Cheers!

The cig lighter is already fused but to be on the safe side and to prevent losing interior lights etc etc i would fit an inline fuse to feed the roadangel. The red wire will be live as you say, however there is no neutral in the car just the -ve earthing to the chassis and -ve battery terminal. One of the colours will be for the backlight to the cig lighter making it light up with the dash lights. (i guess blue one). Do you have any means of testing this? ie turn on lights then unplug blue one and see if cig lighter does/doesnt illuminate.

Just looked in the road angel user guide and it says it must have a 3A inline fuse if hard wiring.

Cant pull any of the wires out because they are securely in a plug in the back of the lighter.

Guess i could snip the blue wire first to check that is just a feed for the light ?

I woudl just wire it straight in to the battery, its going to be on all the time then, and fit a nice inline switch, alot easier too, just switch the live feed from the battery

connect it to fag lighter, as it comes on when you start the car.

You need an inlien fuse holder for positive side, then place the fuse from you RA2 fag lighter into it.

Be careful with the wiring from the RA2 uni as its very very small.

The big chunky (red/yellow) wire is the positive
Brown was negative, but renault have a habit of changing these around.

Would be sensible to check these first.

Do not have the ignition on when you vrimp to these wires either.

There is a post in cli discussion about Jays RA2 which has recently been wired up/

Also make sure everythign is either heatshrinked up or taped properly as they have a habit of falling out.

Best of luck!
