Clarion HU and compatability

Dammit! I remember finding the info on the Cliosport forum/website about the compatability of various headunit manufacturers with the Clio audio stalk control/HUD, but cant find it again!

Im now looking at a Clarion DXZ748RMP headunit (~£230) - anyone know if Clarion HUs can be used with Renault audio controls?

Also, how do people here rate Clarion? Any good?

Clarion are average to say the least

and no, IIRC you cannot get the Clarion HU to work with the stalk controls

Nah, I cant be bothered with a lot of hassle. Am I better sticking to my original choice, which was Kenwood? Clarion was recommended by some people on the talk audio forum - is someone having a laugh?

Im not keen on the appearance of Alpine, despite their quality.

Alpine, Nakamichi or Pioneer are your best bets for SQ

Cheers. Im now looking at the Pioneer DEH-P77MP (the kinda retro-style one) but still trying to convince myself about the looks. My first headunit years ago was a pioneer tape deck (state of the art!) and I liked it, but since then I didnt think the SQ of their newer models was as good as others (Alpine and Kenwood, but still better than Sony for the money).

Does anyone have photos of a P77MP installed in a Clio? Just need convincing that itll look right!

And I cant afford Nakamichi...

Tomclio182, I take it youd recommend this as a headunit? Im moving from an Alpine CDM7874R and am looking from something of at least equal SQ. Can you give me your thoughts on the Pioneer?

Also, its not too bright at night, is it? Thats was pissed me off with the Alpine.

nice head unit Tomclio182.. thats what i was gonna get.. its got better sound quality than most models because all the cost has gone on the internals not a big flashy screen with a doliphin swiming around.

Ive sold it because i didnt like the illumination.

its a great headunit tho
